Qigong is an internal meditation practice that concentrates on breathing. Breath functions like an anchor for the ever wondering mind. Thoughts and images are coming and going, what stays unchangeable is the rise and fall of the breath. The rise is inhalation and the fall is exhalation. During inhalation the abdomen rises, whereas on the exhalation the abdomen falls or sinks in. Our diaphragm acts like a balloon filling up with air and deflating. While breathing in, we absorb Qi - energy from the outside environment and when breathing out, we disperse the processed Qi. This, in a nutshell, is what Qigong about.
